Premier Widow / Wolf update

Well, no news is good news, right?  OK, I guess.  Premier is unable to nail down a date that these will be in.  At least another month.  Sorry, but I do guarantee that they are going to be worth the wait.  I have a few hours (at least) on each.  Here is the short and the sweet.  If you can afford a Widow Maker, go for it.  If not, or if you want to stretch the old kite budget, go for the Widow.  Small trade off in my opinion.  You will give up a little on the low end of the wind range, but I'm thinking for most flyers the Widow will offer up more than you can handle.  I have found it very capable trick wise and you give up little in performance.  The Wolf is a no-brainer, must have.  i don't usually get excited about sub-$100 kites (okay, I admit it, I'm a kite snob) but the Wolf has been one of the most enjoyable, most fun, most rewarding new kites i have flown in a long, long time.  Trust your old uncle Steve on this ... you want a Wolf, you need a Wolf, you deserve a Wolf.  Whether you are looking for your first axel or are a Tricks Party level flyer there is something you'll dig about this "little" kite.  Okay, it is really not that small but it flies and feels smaller than it is (and I say that as a good thing).  Every time I have flown the kite I have had at least one laugh out loud moment.  Try as I might i can't get this kite to foul and not come out with something cool loking.  Reminds me of the first time I flew a mini Gem ... lots of WTF moments.  Ground work with these is very rewarding.  I am trying to get some video of both kites and hope to make that happen this weekend ... speaking of which, if you are in the Sacramento area we will have the Widow and Wolf at the Roseville Fest on Saturday, April 5th.

Chico Fly July 2006

  • Mike Baker made the trip up from the east bay to join us this month. Sure wish we could have provided better conditions, but Mike seemed to deal well with typical Chico summer weather ... warm and spotty (at best) winds. Thanks for joining us Mike!

Chico Dec. 4 2005

  • Team SOHR came up to Chico to join us for a little fly and to pick up a new set of Mamba's for their newest member, Jason Bell. The wind and weather were perfect and the kites were all Blue Moons. Quite possibly the best fly of the year!
